The Leather Care Guide

Full-grain organic vegetable-tanned leather is a living material. Follow this simple curation manual to keep your piece pristine for generations.

Understanding the Beautiful Patina

Unlike industrial chrome-tanned leathers, our organically tanned hides change dynamically. As you carry your True Leather bag or wear your jacket, the material absorbs natural oils from your hands, sunlight, and friction. Over time, it deepens in color, softens in posture, and develops a magnificent, lustrous golden sheen known as a patina.

Do not treat scratches as flaws. They are unique scars of your journey, adding peerless antique character to your investment.

1. Protect & Prevent

Keep your leather goods away from prolonged exposure to intense, direct sunlight, heavy rainfall, or high humidity. Direct sunlight can dehydrate full-grain hides, leading to structural stiffness and premature cracking, while water saturation can dissolve the natural vegetable tannins.

2. Clean with Care

For routine cleaning, use a dry, soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe off surface dust or grit. If you encounter light stains or mud, dampen the cloth extremely lightly with clean, lukewarm water and mild organic soap. Never scrub; dab gently in circular motions and let dry naturally in a cool, ventilated area.

3. Condition Every 6 Months

Since vegetable-tanned leather is a natural, biological hide, it requires replenishment of its natural oils to remain supple. Apply a high-quality, organic bees-wax or seed-oil based leather conditioner using a soft cotton applicator once or twice a year. Gently buff in circles and let dry for 2 hours.

4. Correct Storage

When storing jackets or weekender bags for long periods, fill them loosely with clean acid-free tissue paper to maintain their original silhouette and structural form. Never store in synthetic plastic bags; leather needs to breathe! Use the breathable, natural cotton dust bags provided with your True Leather purchase.
